Poverty: It is a condition in which a person or community is deprived of, and or lacks the essentials for a minimum standard of well-being and life. These essentials may be material resources such as food, safe drinking water, and shelter, or they may be social resources such as access to information, education, health care, social status, political power, or the opportunity to develop meaningful connections with other people in society.
We went to a slum area in Quezon City for our Gawad Kalinga (in English it means "to give care"). There were around 20 of us and we had a program to help the youth of about 50+ children and teach them basic values and give them the attention and care that they definitely weren't getting from their parents.
I saw this child walking around barefooted and I saw all the wounds on his legs. I couldn't help but feel sad for him. I hope that someday he will have a chance for a better future...
Thank you. I think the best way to help them is through proper education which I think their parents and the government really isn't able to provide them with.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
